Rhapsody Of Fire (Antes conocido simplemente como Rhapsody) se formó en la ciudad de Trieste, Italia, cuando Alex Staropoli que tenía una idea que en su banda de ese entonces no podía realizar Luca Turilli, quien estaba en la misma situación se juntaron a realizar su ambicioso plan. Reclutaron a Daniele Carbonera para la batería y se lanzaron a los escenarios con el nombre Thundercross con Christiano Adacher a las voces y coros.

Es un grupo que realiza sagas de varios discos. A través de las letras (escritas mayoritariamente en inglés) se narra una historia épica que va entrelazando todas las canciones a lo largo de sus álbumes.
